A 26-year-old man died after being struck on the head with a brick by an unknown assailant in Ayanagar area of South Delhi, police said on Monday.

The incident came to light following a PCR call to Fatehpur Beri police station about a dead body found in a vacant plot in Ayanagar.

The deceased has been identified as Krishna, the 26-year-old son of Ram Chander and a resident of Ayanagar, Phase-6.

Originally from Madhubani, Bihar, Krishna had moved to Delhi approximately two months ago, according to an official statement.

Krishna was employed as a carpenter and lived with two acquaintances from his hometown, who shared the same residence.

As per his co-workers’ statements, Krishna left home on Sunday evening, saying he would return shortly.

However, he did not come back, and his body was discovered the next day with a fatal head injury.

A brick, suspected to be the weapon used in the crime, was recovered from the scene. Police have registered an FIR under the section of murder and have preserved the body for post-mortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the culprit.
